Two Iconic California Wineries Hit the Market: Opportunities in Sonoma and Paso Robles

California’s wine industry is poised for new investment opportunities as two renowned wineries go up for sale. Hilco Global and Onyx Asset Advisors are inviting bids for Imagery Winery in Sonoma County and Rabbit Ridge Winery in Paso Robles. Interested parties can submit offers for these properties until January 16, 2026.

Imagery Winery: A Slice of Sonoma’s Charm

Situated at 14335 Sonoma Highway 12 in Glen Ellen, Imagery Winery spans nearly 20 acres, with around four acres dedicated to vineyards growing Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. This estate is conveniently located just six miles from Sonoma Square and 50 miles from San Francisco, making it a prime destination for wine enthusiasts.

Features of Imagery Winery

  • Production Capacity: Licensed to produce up to 180,000 cases annually
  • Storage: Can hold 250,000 gallons in jacketed tanks
  • Amenities: Includes barrel cellars, a crush pad, various hospitality spaces for wine tasting, outdoor events, picnic areas, a bocce ball court, and an art gallery.

Imagery Winery thrives in the heart of Sonoma Valley, a region celebrated as the birthplace of California’s wine culture. In 2024, Sonoma County welcomed over 10.5 million visitors, generating approximately $1.5 billion in economic activity. The winery’s proximity to attractions like the historic Sonoma Plaza and Jack London House enhances its potential for tourism-driven success.

Rabbit Ridge Winery: Expansive Potential in Paso Robles

Located at 1172 San Marcos Road and Texas Road in Paso Robles, Rabbit Ridge Winery encompasses two parcels totaling around 310 acres. The San Marcos Road parcel features 155 acres, including 93 acres of established vineyards and a modern gravity flow production facility previously licensed for up to 400,000 cases annually.

Highlights of Rabbit Ridge Winery

  • Production Facilities: Features a crush pad, fermentation area, climate-controlled barrel storage, and a bottling line.
  • Water System: Recent upgrades have improved water capacity to 85-100 gallons per minute from two wells.
  • Land for Expansion: The adjacent Texas Road parcel offers an additional 155 acres, including fertile land for further agricultural development or potential residential projects.

Paso Robles uniquely serves as a central hub for both northern and southern California markets and has remained resilient against recent wildfire risks. According to Beacon Economics, the Paso Robles American Viticultural Area (AVA) generated an impressive $2.8 billion in economic impact in 2025, attracting around 2.5 million visitors each year. The varied soil types and climate conditions here make it an ideal environment for premium wine production.

Opportunities for Investors and Developers

Jamie Coté, director at Hilco Global’s real estate group, emphasizes that Sonoma Valley represents a blend of culture and history, while Paso Robles showcases growth and innovation in California’s wine landscape. Christian Koulichkov, another director at Hilco Global, notes that these sales represent valuable opportunities for vintners, investors, and developers interested in repositioning assets within these dynamic markets.

Viewing Details

Those interested in investing in these properties can schedule onsite inspections by appointment from December 1 to December 19, 2025. More details about the terms of sale can be found on the Hilco Global Real Estate Sales website or by reaching out to representatives from Hilco Global or Onyx Asset Advisors.

Conclusion

As two premier wineries enter the market, investors have a unique chance to become part of California’s rich wine heritage. With the backing of seasoned industry professionals, this is an opportunity not to be missed for those looking to invest in California’s thriving wine industry.
