In an exciting development for the Syracuse Women’s Lacrosse program, seniors Emma Muchnick and Coco Vandiver were both selected in the recent WLL Draft. The California Palms picked Muchnick with the ninth overall pick, while Vandiver was chosen at the sixteenth overall.

Emma Muchnick: A Dual Threat in Midfield

Emma Muchnick, a senior midfielder, has had an impressive collegiate career, showcasing her versatility on the field. Having scored 71 goals and provided 21 assists during her time at Syracuse, Muchnick has proven to be a reliable offensive player. She began her journey playing for Maryland before transferring to Syracuse, where she has spent the last three years.

Key Achievements

Muchnick is known for her defensive skills as a two-way midfielder, compiling 25 caused turnovers over her career, including a notable 10 this season. She has also recorded 57 ground balls, making her a well-rounded player and an asset to the California Palms.

Coco Vandiver: Record-Setting Defender

Coco Vandiver, selected with the sixteenth overall pick, holds a remarkable record in the Syracuse lacrosse program. As a senior defender, Vandiver has accumulated a program-best 114 caused turnovers, making her one of the standout players in the league. Notable Accolades

Vandiver’s consistent performance has earned her a place on the Tewaaraton Watch List and recognition as a Nike Midseason All-American. She is the only player in Syracuse history to achieve 40 or more caused turnovers in multiple seasons, further highlighting her exceptional defensive prowess.

Upcoming WLL Season

The WLL’s inaugural regular season kicks off on May 15, featuring the Boston Guard facing off against the New York Charging at Centreville Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The California Palms are set to take on the Maryland Charm on May 29 at the Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore, Maryland.
