Loyola Chicago Track and Field Shines in California Competitions

LA VERNE, Calif. – Loyola Chicago’s track and field team delivered impressive performances during the California competitions this past Friday, showcasing remarkable personal bests that continued to elevate the status of the Ramblers.

Outstanding Performances at the Bryan Clay Invitational

At the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California, standout runner James Howell achieved a personal best in the 800m event, clocking in at 1:51.01 and securing seventh place in his heat. This achievement highlights Howell’s relentless preparation and commitment to excellence on the track.

The team also competed in a highly competitive 5k invitational. Notably, Roisin Treacy recorded an impressive time of 16:43.54. In the 5k open, fellow teammate Eileen Seebon led the Ramblers with a solid 16:47.85, closely followed by Angy Salado Fernandez at 17:16.85 and Ali Gillooly, who finished with a time of 17:32.37.

Strong Showings at the Leopard Invitational

Simultaneously, Loyola’s athletes showcased their skills at the Leopard Invitational in La Verne. The 1500m event had several impressive finishes, with Jo Collins leading the way for the Ramblers, achieving a personal-best time of 4:43.91 and placing 10th overall. Not far behind, Lindsey Kiehl clocked in a personal best of 4:44.15 for an 11th-place finish, while Priscilla Ravera wrapped up the event with a time of 4:44.97, securing the 12th position. Additional personal records were set by Claire Blotnik at 4:49.35 and Frances Perry, who finished in 4:52.41.

Upcoming Events for Loyola Chicago

As the competition continues, Cael Mulholland and Hayden Healey are set to represent the Ramblers in the men’s 5k invitational at the Bryan Clay event later this evening.

Furthermore, the team will also participate in the Wheaton “Don Church” Twilight Meet on Saturday, showcasing their talents on yet another platform.
