Brandon Crawford Inducted into Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame 2026

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame (BASHOF) is set to welcome a new class of sports legends in 2026, with Brandon Crawford, the two-time World Series champion and former star of the San Francisco Giants, leading the inductees. Crawford’s impressive career and undeniable impact on baseball have earned him this prestigious recognition.

Celebrating the 2026 Induction Class

Brandon Crawford is joined by an outstanding group of athletes, each contributing significantly to the rich tradition of sports in the Bay Area. The 2026 induction class includes:

  • Jack Clark: The seasoned head coach of the UC Berkeley men’s rugby team, Clark has guided the team to an astonishing 30 National Championships over his 43-year tenure.

  • Missy Franklin: A five-time Olympic gold medalist and an esteemed member of the International Swimming Hall of Fame. Franklin also led her NCAA team to victory in the 2015 NCAA Women’s Division I Swimming and Diving Team Championship.

  • Eddie Hart: A local hero and Olympic gold medalist track and field sprinter, Hart is celebrated for his two world records that have left a lasting legacy in athletics.

  • Jesse Sapolu: A formidable offensive lineman, Sapolu won four Super Bowl Championships with the San Francisco 49ers during his distinguished career from 1984 to 1994.

A Legacy of Achievement

Mario Alioto, the Board Chair of BASHOF, expressed the honor of inducting this talented group. “The 2026 class of the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame features five extremely worthy individuals who have made a tremendous impact in their sport and in our region,” he stated. “This distinguished group includes Super Bowl and World Series Champions, Olympic Gold medalists, and NCAA National Champions, and we are thrilled for them to take their rightful place among the other legends enshrined in the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame.”

Crawford’s Remarkable Career

Hailing from the Bay Area, Brandon Crawford made his debut with the San Francisco Giants in 2011. He holds the record for the most games played at shortstop for the Giants and ranks seventh overall in franchise history. His accolades include:

  • Four Gold Glove Awards, showcasing his defensive excellence.
  • A Silver Slugger Award, recognizing his offensive prowess.
  • A Gold Medal from the 2017 World Baseball Classic, underscoring his talent on the international stage.

In 2025, Crawford was also honored with induction into the UCLA Hall of Fame, further cementing his status as a remarkable athlete.

Induction Ceremony Details

The five inductees, who have left an indelible mark on Bay Area sports, will be celebrated at the 2026 BASHOF dinner and induction ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, May 14. This event promises to highlight the achievements of these sports icons and honor their contributions to the vibrant sports community in the Bay Area.
