University of Oregon Welcomes New Golf Talent on National Signing Day

EUGENE, Ore. — The University of Oregon’s men’s golf team announced the addition of two exceptional freshmen from California on National Signing Day. Head coach Casey Martin officially welcomed Von Gordon from Santa Ynez and Logan Park from Eastvale as the newest members of the Ducks’ incoming class.

Von Gordon: Rising Star from Santa Ynez

Achievements and Recognition

Von Gordon has made a name for himself in high school golf, playing a pivotal role in securing back-to-back CIF Central Section Division II Championships for Santa Ynez High School in 2023 and 2024. His individual accolades include being named the Most Valuable Player as both a freshman and sophomore, showcasing his outstanding skills and consistency on the course.

Gordon’s remarkable resume includes:

  • First Place at the Spring Series Championship (2024) – Secured a Toyota Tour Cup exemption.
  • Tied for First at the AJGA Preview (2024).
  • Medaled at the AJGA Junior at Cooper Valley (2024).
  • Top-10 Finish at the 2024 Notah Begay III Championship.
  • Second Place at the 2025 Visit Pullman Junior Tournament.
  • Tied for Second at the Cal State Junior Amateur.
  • Tied for Fourth at the AJGA Desert Junior at Mission Hills (2025).
  • Competitor in the 77th U.S. Junior Amateur (2025).

In addition to his athletic success, Gordon excelled academically, securing his place on the academic honor roll throughout high school and earning the title of golf scholar-athlete in his freshman and sophomore years.

Coach’s Insight

Coach Martin praised Gordon as a “late bloomer” who has shown significant improvement over the past few years. “He had a terrific summer,” Martin noted. “I watched him several times and feel like he will have an immediate impact on our program. He has a great golf swing and works so hard. I can’t wait to have him on the team.”

Logan Park: A Record-Setting Competitor

Exceptional Golfing Credentials

Logan Park has demonstrated remarkable prowess on the golf course, becoming the 2024 CIF Southern Section Regional Champion. He made headlines as a sophomore by matching the CIF Regional record, previously set by PGA star Rickie Fowler, with a 10-under 64 in 2004.

Key accomplishments for Park include:

  • Leading Diamond Bar High School to victory at the 2024 team CIF-SCGA Regional Championship.
  • Being named Most Valuable Player at Diamond Bar in both 2023 and 2024.
  • Serving as team captain in his sophomore year.
  • Earning four Toyota Tour Cup titles from 2023 to 2025.
  • Winning the 2024 Eddie Hogan Cup, with an impressive score of 7-under across two rounds.
  • Reaching the finals in the Southern California Golf Association match play in 2024.
  • Helping Team SoCal clinch victory at the 2025 Boys North/South Cup.
  • Qualifying for the U.S. Junior Amateur (2025).
  • Maintaining an honor roll status in 2023.

Park’s background in golf is further enriched by his brother, Hogan Park, who currently plays for Eastern Washington University.

Coach’s Perspective

Coach Martin regards Park as a tremendous asset for the team due to his extensive abilities in competitive golf. “Logan has been a great player in Southern California,” he remarked. “He has won some big events and has shot some really low scores. He has a ton of talent. In time, he will be an excellent player for us.”

Conclusion

The addition of Von Gordon and Logan Park to the University of Oregon’s men’s golf team marks an exciting new chapter for the Ducks. With their proven records and outstanding talent, both freshmen are poised to make significant contributions to the program in the coming years.
