University of Oregon Welcomes Two Freshmen Golf Stars on National Signing Day

Introduction to Oregon’s Dynamic Duo

EUGENE, Ore. — The University of Oregon’s men’s golf team is thrilled to announce the addition of two exceptional freshmen from California. Von Gordon and Logan Park have signed with the Ducks, aiming to make an immediate impact in collegiate golf. Head Coach Casey Martin made the announcement on National Signing Day, highlighting the promising talents of these young athletes.

Von Gordon: Rising Star from Santa Ynez

Achievements and Accolades

Von Gordon hails from Santa Ynez, California, and has an impressive record. He played a key role in leading the Santa Ynez High School golf team to consecutive CIF Central Section Division II Championships in 2023 and 2024. His personal accolades include:

  • Most Valuable Player (MVP) at Santa Ynez as a freshman and sophomore
  • First place at the Spring Series Championship in 2024, earning a Toyota Tour Cup exemption
  • Tied for first at the AJGA Preview in 2024
  • Medalist at the AJGA Junior at Cooper Valley in 2024
  • A top-10 finish at the 2024 Notah Begay III Championship
  • Second place at the 2025 Visit Pullman Junior Tournament
  • T2 finish at the Cal State Junior Amateur as a junior
  • Tied for fourth at the AJGA Desert Junior at Mission Hills in 2025
  • Competitor in the 77th U.S. Junior Amateur in 2025

Von also boasts a solid academic background, being a four-year academic honor roll student and recognized as a golf scholar athlete.

Coach Martin’s Insight

Coach Martin expressed optimism about Gordon’s potential, stating, “Von is sort of a late bloomer and shifted to golf a few years ago. He had a terrific summer. I watched him several times and feel like he will have an immediate impact on our program. He has a great golf swing and works so hard. I can’t wait to have him on the team.”

Logan Park: Southern California Sensation

Notable Accomplishments

Logan Park from Eastvale, California, has established himself as a standout player in the competitive Southern California golf scene. His accolades include:

  • 2024 CIF Southern Section Regional Champion
  • Matching the CIF Regional record for the lowest round to par in championship history (10-under 64) as a sophomore, equaling Rickie Fowler’s record set in 2004
  • Leading Diamond Bar High School to the 2024 team CIF-SCGA Regional Championship
  • Named MVP at Diamond Bar for two consecutive years (2023 and 2024)
  • Selected as team captain during his sophomore year
  • Four-time Toyota Tour Cup Champion (2023-2025)
  • First place at the Eddie Hogan Cup 2024 with rounds of 67 and 68
  • Southern California Golf Association match play finalist in 2024
  • Member of the winning Team SoCal at the 2025 Boys North/South Cup
  • Qualifying for the U.S. Junior Amateur in 2025
  • Honor roll status in 2023

Logan’s brother, Hogan Park, currently represents Eastern Washington University in golf, indicating a strong family legacy in the sport.

Coach Martin’s Perspective

Coach Martin praised Park’s talent, saying, “Logan has been a great player in Southern California. He has won some big events and has shot some really low scores. He has a ton of talent. In time, he will be an excellent player for us.”

Conclusion

The University of Oregon’s men’s golf team is poised for success with the addition of Von Gordon and Logan Park. Both players bring a wealth of experience and exceptional skills, promising a bright future for the Ducks in golf. With a supportive coaching staff and a competitive environment, these young athletes are set to make their mark in collegiate sports.
