Cal Women’s Golf Kicks Off Spring Season at Therese Hession Regional Challenge
PALOS VERDES, CA – The California Golden Bears women’s golf team is set to commence their 2026 spring season at the highly anticipated Therese Hession Regional Challenge this Sunday in Palos Verdes, California. Competing against 15 other elite teams, the Bears are looking to make a significant impact on the par 71, 6,116-yard course at Palos Verdes Golf Club.
Exciting Competition Ahead
The tournament, which runs from January 31 to February 2, will feature each team playing 18 holes daily. The Golden Bears are coming off a busy fall season, which included three impressive top-5 finishes at events like the Molly Invitational, St. Andrews Links Collegiate, and the Nanea Invitational. Notably, junior Constance Fouillet set a record at the Old Course in St. Andrews, achieving a remarkable nine-under par 63.
Recent Performance
In their last competition, the Golden Bears claimed fifth place among 11 teams at the Nanea Invitational, finishing the tournament at three under par. This accomplishment marked their first consecutive under-par finishes since 2023, showcasing their steady improvement under competitive conditions. Freshman Michelle Woo shone brightly during this event, finishing in 26th place with a score of even par 272, while three other members of the team landed in the top 35.
Last Year’s Challenge Recap
The Bears previously participated in the Therese Hession Regional Challenge last season, concluding the tournament in eighth place. Adora Liu was a standout performer, shooting a total score of 6-over par 219 to lead the squad.
