California Highway Patrol Officer Recognized for Heroic Rescue of Firefighter

A California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer has been awarded for his life-saving actions following a motorcycle accident in Placer County earlier this month. Officer Tyler Lenaburg, who was off duty at the time, demonstrated remarkable bravery in responding to the emergency.

The Incident: A Motorcycle Crash

On February 6, Cal Fire firefighter Trent Pajer, based in Colfax, was riding his motorcycle near Fiddyment Road and Sunset Boulevard when he lost control and crashed. The impact was severe, throwing him more than 50 yards from his bike and resulting in a life-threatening injury to his leg.

Quick Action Under Pressure

Witnessing the crash, Officer Lenaburg and his fiancée quickly rushed to the scene to assist. Understanding the urgency, Lenaburg immediately began administering first aid while simultaneously calling for emergency services. He remained at the site, providing crucial support until paramedics arrived to take over the situation.

A New Officer’s Courage

Officer Lenaburg, who has only been with the CHP for about four months, showed exceptional composure and skill during the crisis. His actions not only saved a life but also highlighted the dedication and commitment of law enforcement professionals.
