California Women’s Rowing: Preseason Duel Against Oregon State

California’s women’s rowing team is gearing up for an exciting preseason dual with Oregon State this Saturday at Redwood Shores. This event will showcase a series of races, featuring the Golden Bears’ first and second varsity eights and coxed fours, as well as an exciting competition between the Cal Blue and Cal Gold varsity crews.

A Promising Start to the Season

The upcoming dual marks the inaugural outing for all of Cal’s boats this season. Last weekend, the Cal Blue and Cal Gold teams competed in the prestigious California Challenge Cup in Newport Beach, where they dominated the competition, achieving an impressive four dual-race wins in the first two rounds. This success set the stage for a thrilling final, pitting Cal Blue against Cal Gold to vie for the Steve Guentz Challenge Cup. Remarkably, this victory represents the fourth consecutive year that California has swept all races at this renowned Southern California event.

Race Schedule

The racing action will commence at 10:30 a.m. PT on Saturday, with a full schedule as follows:

  • 10:40 a.m. – Cal 1V8+ vs. OSU 1V8+
  • 10:50 a.m. – Cal 2V8+ vs. OSU 2V8+
  • 11:00 a.m. – Cal 1V4+ vs. OSU 1V4+
  • 11:10 a.m. – Cal 2V4+ vs. OSU 2V4+
  • 11:20 a.m. – Cal Blue vs. Cal Gold

Note: All times are in Pacific Time.
