Marist Women’s Lacrosse to Battle UC Davis in Exciting Non-Conference Showdown

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist University women’s lacrosse team is gearing up to take on the UC Davis Aggies in an electrifying non-conference matchup on Friday, March 13. The game is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. at UC Davis Health Stadium, marking an important part of the Red Foxes’ spring break itinerary.

Recent Performance of the Red Foxes

In their latest game, the Red Foxes faced a tough challenge against Columbia, suffering a 12-9 defeat on February 28 at Tenney Stadium. Despite the setback, several players showcased impressive performances:

  • Amelia Pirozzi, a sophomore midfielder, led the charge with four goals.
  • Senior attack Jesse Manger contributed significantly with two goals and two assists, while senior captain midfielder Caitlin McNaboe added another two goals to the scoreline.
  • Junior attack Kathryn Staker also made her mark by scoring once for the team.

Aggies’ Season Outlook

On the other side of the field, the UC Davis Aggies are coming off a challenging season, finishing 6-10 overall and 2-3 in conference play. However, this season has started with more promise, as they currently hold a 2-2 record, including victories over Florida State and California.

Preseason Predictions and Series History

According to the Big 12 Preseason Coaches’ Poll, UC Davis has been projected to finish fourth out of six teams this season. In terms of historical context, this matchup will mark the fourth encounter between the Red Foxes and the Aggies, with UC Davis maintaining an unbeaten streak, leading the series 3-0.

What’s Next for Marist

Following their clash with UC Davis, the Red Foxes will continue their West Coast tour, taking on the California Golden Bears on Monday, March 16 at 6 p.m. This game promises to be another exciting opportunity for Marist to showcase their talent against a formidable opponent.

Conclusion: The upcoming game against UC Davis presents an exciting chance for the Marist women’s lacrosse team to bounce back from their recent loss and build momentum as they navigate through their spring break competition. Fans can catch the action as the Red Foxes aim to secure their first win against the Aggies in program history.
