Saint Mary’s Women’s Tennis Team Faces Tough Loss Against Long Beach State

LONG BEACH, Calif. — In a challenging match against Long Beach State, the Saint Mary’s women’s tennis team succumbed to a 4-0 defeat. Despite their hard work and determination, the Gaels found it difficult to secure a win.

Doubles Play Performance

The Gaels entered the doubles matches with optimism. They finished with a 1-2 record in doubles play, highlighted by a notable victory from the duo of Sophie Stanton and Sydney Wilson, who triumphed with a 6-4 score. This win improved their season record to 2-3 and allowed them to maintain a perfect 2-0 record for the week after their recent victory over UC Riverside.

Singles Match Outcomes

Unfortunately, the singles matches did not yield the same success. Players including Sofia Daryaie, Madison Weekley, and Stanton saw their matches left unfinished, while Tiana Fox, Elif Tuana Gunal, and Wilson were defeated in straight sets, leading to Long Beach State’s decisive victory.
