University of Pennsylvania Gymnastics Shines at California Quad
BERKELEY, Calif. – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team made a remarkable impression at the California Quad hosted by Cal Berkeley. The Quakers finished with an impressive score of 195.900, marking their second-highest score of the season. The competition was fierce, with California securing the top position at 197.175, followed by Washington at 196.575 and UC Davis in fourth with 191.175.
Consistent Performance Across Rotations
Vault: A Solid Start
The Quakers started strong on the vault, achieving a score of 48.925—their lowest rotation of the night, showcasing just how successful their performance was overall. The team’s consistency shone through, with all five gymnasts scoring between 9.750 and 9.825. Leading the pack was Manama Fofana with an impressive 9.825, while Sienna Zuccaro and Jordan Barrow contributed notable scores of 9.800 each.
Bars: Highlight of the Night
The bars rotation was a standout moment, yielding a remarkable score of 49.050. This incredible performance included four scores of 9.825 or higher. Notable contributions came from Marissa Lassiter, Jordan Barrow again, and Sophia Paris, who performed beautifully with scores of 9.825. The team’s highest score was clinched by Luci Toczydlowski, who achieved 9.850.
Beam: Stepping Up
On the beam, the Quakers secured a score of 48.950. Following an early standout performance of 9.925 by Manama Fofana, Maggie Murphy and Mimi Fletcher each delivered all-time performances, with their scores ranking third in the program’s history.
Floor: Setting the Tone
The Quakers capped off their performance with a strong floor routine, scoring 48.975. Manama Fofana again led the charge with an outstanding score of 9.900, while Mimi Fletcher followed closely with a solid 9.850.
Looking Ahead
The Quakers are now turning their focus to the upcoming GEC Championships, scheduled for this Saturday, March 21, in Ithaca, N.Y.
