Unprecedented Winter Heat Wave Continues in Southern California

LOS ANGELES – A historic heat wave is gripping Southern California, with dangerously high temperatures persisting throughout the week. Residents are being urged to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses as unseasonably warm weather remains in the forecast.

Meteorological Insights

The region has seen temperatures soar significantly since Sunday, with areas from the beaches to the Inland Empire feeling the heat. According to FOX 11 meteorologist Maria Quiban, this unusual weather is attributed to a powerful dome of high pressure settling over the Southwest. This phenomenon has been warming the atmosphere by 20 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit above the typical seasonal averages.

Official Warnings

Local authorities are cautioning residents to limit outdoor activities and stay hydrated as the risk for heat-related health issues rises. The current heat wave comes just as winter is concluding, with the spring equinox set for March 20.

Looking Ahead
