Oregon State Beavers Shine Across California Track Meets

PALO ALTO, Calif. – The Oregon State Beavers showcased their athletic prowess this past weekend, splitting their squad across three significant meets: the Stanford Invitational, Mike Fanelli Distance Carnival, and Brutus Hamilton Invitational. Their tireless efforts culminated in an impressive tally of 24 personal records.

Stanford Invitational Highlights

At the Stanford Invitational, Oregon State made an impact in both field and track events.

Field Performances

  • Pole Vault:

    • Claire Lee secured a fifth-place finish with a vault of 3.51m (11-6.25), while Carley Strand followed closely in seventh place with 3.21m (10-6.25).
  • Javelin Throw:

    • Maryann Ackerman led the javelin invite with a third-place finish and a throw of 51.95m (170-5). Anna Raimondi also shone bright by achieving a personal best of 44.87m (147-2).
  • High Jump:

    • Dede Norman continued her stellar season with a runner-up finish, jumping 1.75m (5-8.75). Lexi Hunt and Kyra Bakke contributed to the high jump depth, with Bakke achieving her personal best.

Track Highlights

On the track, Ainsley Herron delivered a standout performance, clinching victory in her 1,500-meter section with a time of 4:17.67 — making her the third-fastest in Oregon State history. Fellow competitors Ruby Broadbent and Cadence Kasprick also left their mark, recording personal bests in the same section.

Unattached runners Noemi Lundgren and Maya Baechler found success as well, both achieving personal records in their races.

Mike Fanelli Distance Carnival Achievements

Oregon State’s distance team flourished at the Mike Fanelli Distance Carnival, especially in the 5,000 meters.

  • Paige Wiley, Reese Morkert, and Payton Smith all recorded personal bests in their races. In the 1,500 meters, Kate Laurent made headlines with a remarkable second-place finish and a time of 4:22.06, propelling her into the top ten all-time at OSU. Jenna O’Beirne and Ellie Quintana also set personal records in the same event.

Saturday Stanford Invitational Results

The middle-distance athletes led the charge on Saturday at the Stanford Invitational.

  • 800 Meters: Jillian Brown and Maya Baechler both nabbed fourth in their respective sections, adding to the team’s visibility.
  • Discus Throw: Katie Gelston took home third place with a throw of 51.30m (168-3), while Havana Alonso captured the collegiate javelin title with a personal best of 49.30m (161-9), which makes her seventh on the all-time Oregon State list.

Brutus Hamilton Invitational Highlights

In a display of versatility, Oregon State athletes continued to shine at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational.

  • Pole Vault: Mia Fowler excelled with a second-place finish at 3.85m (12-7.5). Claire Lee consistently performed with another top-10 finish.

  • 100-Meter Hurdles: Megan Hatcher recorded a personal best of 14.66 and followed it up with a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters, securing her spot in the OSU all-time top ten.

  • Javelin Victory: Anna Raimondi capped the weekend on a high note by winning the javelin with a throw of 42.40m (139-1).
