UC Santa Barbara Women’s Tennis Dominates Hawai’i in 7-0 Victory

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The No. 49 ranked UC Santa Barbara Women’s Tennis team delivered a stellar performance on Saturday at the Arnhold Tennis Center, sweeping No. 73 Hawai’i with a decisive score of 7-0. This victory solidifies the Gauchos’ perfect record in Big West play, bringing their overall record to 10-8 and conference tally to 4-0, while the Rainbow Wahine fell to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in the Big West.

Doubles Action

UC Santa Barbara kicked things off strongly, securing the doubles point by winning two out of three matches. The duo of Emma Tutoveanu and My-Anh Holmes dominated court three, overpowering Allaire Berl and Isabella Pampulov with a 6-0 victory. Although Hawai’i managed to clinch a win on court one, where Grete Gull and Sophie Rachor defeated Shanelle Iaconi and Isabella Wong 6-4, the crucial point was secured by Caroline Beard and Ekua Youri, who delivered a 6-3 win on court two against Hannah Galindo and Makeilah Nepomuceno.

Wong staged a comeback at No. 3 against Galindo, winning 4-6, 6-0, 6-3. Finally, Lily Pradkin capped off the match with a gritty comeback victory at No. 5, defeating Berl 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 1-0 (10-5).
