Saint Mary’s Beach Volleyball Team Triumphs in Stockton, Setting Records

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Saint Mary’s beach volleyball team showcased resilience under heavy rainfall in Stockton, securing two significant victories on Saturday afternoon. With a thrilling 3-2 victory over Cal State Bakersfield and a commanding 3-0 win against Pacific, the Gaels notched their 22nd and 23rd victories of the season, setting a new program record.

Match Overview: Wins Against Cal State Bakersfield and Pacific

Victory Over Cal State Bakersfield

The day kicked off with the Gaels facing off against the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners. The match was intensely contested, but Saint Mary’s emerged victorious. Notably, the duo of Hannah Glick and Barett Nolan dominated at the fives, winning in straight sets with scores of 21-10, 21-10. Their impressive record as a pair now stands at 18-2 for the season.

After the Roadrunners equalized the match with a win at the fours, the Gaels fought back with Alisia Silvethorn and Annah Legaspi clinching the threes, marking their 14th victory together as a pair. The decisive moment arrived when Genevieve Bane and Angelina Bour triumphed at the ones, finishing their matches with tightly contested scores of 21-19 and 25-23. Although the Roadrunners took the twos, the Gaels had already secured the overall victory.

Quick Win Against Pacific

The team’s second match of the day against the Pacific Tigers was cut short due to persistent rain. However, the Gaels quickly made their mark with a 3-0 win. Reunited at the twos for the first time in three weeks, Angelina Bour and Clarissa Klein excelled, upping their record to 9-3 as partners.

Shortly after, Genevieve Bane and Zoe Joshua celebrated Joshua’s first collegiate victory at the ones. The match wrapped up with Bella Reyes and Alisia Silvethorn securing their second win together at the fours.

Upcoming Matches and Goals

The Gaels continue their weekend in Stockton with two more matches scheduled for Sunday against UC Davis at 2 PM and San Jose State at 4 PM. A double victory would mark their first six-match winning streak of the season, further solidifying their momentum.

Conclusion

Saint Mary’s beach volleyball team is making waves this season, breaking records and exhibiting teamwork that promises an exciting conclusion to the weekend. As they aim for continued success, fans and supporters can follow the team’s journey and results through the Saint Mary’s athletics website for updates and more information.
