Saint Mary’s Women’s Track and Field Shines at Jim Linthicum Invitational

CUPERTINO, Calif. — The Saint Mary’s women’s track and field team showcased their talent at the Jim Linthicum Invitational, achieving impressive results across various events.

Top Performers in Distance Events

Leading the charge in the 1500 meters, Jane Carney secured a commendable tenth place with a personal best time of 4:57.04. Her performance was pivotal in setting the tone for the team during the competition.

Strong Showings in Sprint Events

In the 400 meters, Madison Dwyer delivered an exceptional display, finishing fourth and achieving a personal best of 59.19. This remarkable time ranks as the tenth fastest in the history of Saint Mary’s track and field. Dwyer also competed in the 200 meters, where she placed tenth with a time of 26.75.

Junior sprinter Allie Davis-Libiano made her mark by setting a personal best in the 100 meters with a time of 13.03, ranking sixth all-time in the program’s history. She also ran a personal best of 27.15 in the 200 meters, further contributing to the team’s overall success.

Impressive Results in Throwing Events

In the throwing competitions, Mychaela Parker led the way with a winning throw in the discus event, marking her personal best at 39.98 meters, which is the longest throw in Saint Mary’s program history. Teammate Alexys Carlson placed second in the discus with a throw of 38.56 meters, ranking second in program history. Additionally, Carlson excelled in the hammer throw, placing second with a mark of 38.82 meters, while Eliza Wong secured fourth place with a throw of 33.85 meters.

Upcoming Events for the Gaels

The Gaels are gearing up for their next competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational, taking place from April 16 to April 18 in Azusa. The team looks to build on their recent successes as they continue their season.
