San Joaquin County Supervisor Steve Ding has officially announced his campaign for reelection to the District 4 seat, pledging to continue the work he began after his first election in November 2022.
Ding, a Stockton native, small-business owner, and restaurateur who operates a local establishment with his sons Steven Jr. and Connor, launched his campaign with a clear message: results over rhetoric.
“Most people want local government that gets the job done without costing too much. That’s how I’ve served you as County Supervisor,” Ding said. “I grew up here, raised my family here, and I’m direct — I do what I say, and if I’m wrong, I fix it.”
During his first term, Ding’s office oversaw the treatment of more than 160 miles of roads, the rehabilitation or replacement of six bridges, and the awarding of $57.3 million in infrastructure contracts. He championed competitive bidding for refuse services that saved some residents up to 45 percent on garbage pickup, and he led the effort to reduce copper-wire theft in the county by more than 80 percent.
On public health, Ding played a key role in advancing the $261 million BeWell Behavioral Health Campus, which broke ground in September 2025 and will serve more than 72,000 individuals annually with integrated mental health and substance use treatment.
Ding has also pushed for voter-identification requirements, opposed project labor agreements on county construction, and advocated for precinct-based voting.
“I’ll keep focusing on public safety, homelessness, roads, and responsible spending,” Ding said. “I know what it’s like to make payroll, deal with regulations, and compete in a tough economy.”
