University of Alaska Anchorage Track and Field Teams Shine in California

Overview of Outstanding Performances

The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) track and field teams wrapped up an exciting weekend of competition in California, achieving remarkable success with seven top-10 marks from their athletes. This impressive showcase reflects the hard work and dedication of the Seawolves as they prepare for upcoming events.

Stellar Individual Results

Liv Heite’s Breakthrough Performances

Liv Heite made waves with her incredible results in the 400 hurdles, clocking in at 1:00.98, marking the third-fastest time in UAA history. Additionally, Heite ran a formidable 14.17 in the 100 hurdles.

Relay Success

Heite also played a crucial role in the 4×100 relay alongside Vivien Liessfeld, Avrey Campbell, and Blanca De Arvizu Sarrias, wherein the team finished with an impressive 47.62, the fourth-fastest time in school history.

Notable Hurdling Achievements

Blanca De Arvizu Sarrias also showcased her talent with a time of 14.35 in the 100 hurdles, marking the fifth-best performance in UAA history.

In the men’s category, Tyler Drake and Anders Larsen both achieved a commendable time of 14.92 in the 110 hurdles, which ranks fifth-best at UAA.

Long Jump Highlights

Women’s Long Jump

The Seawolves excelled in the long jump as well, with Sarah Dittman achieving a jump of 5.64 meters (18 feet 6 inches), placing her seventh all-time at UAA.

Men’s Long Jump

On the men’s side, Tobin Schmidtke leaped to a distance of 6.82 meters (22 feet 4.5 inches), securing his name with the ninth-best performance in school history.

Sprints and Throws

In the 100 meters, Riday Jana finished with a time of 10.70, while Jason Lorig followed closely behind with 10.80, the ninth-best time in UAA history.

Further, in the men’s 200 meters, Brian Morris recorded a time of 22.34, showcasing his speed alongside the solid performance of Eric Bushnell in the discus throw, achieving a distance of 46.24 meters (151 feet 8 inches).

Additional Men’s Long Jump Results

Other competitors in the men’s long jump included Anders Larsen (6.67 meters), Tyler Drake (6.61 meters), and Seth Cupper (6.33 meters).
