Weather Update for Northern California: Expect Fog and Warming Trends

Current Conditions

This afternoon, Northern California is experiencing mostly dry and mild weather, thanks to a persistent ridge in the atmospheric pattern. This stable weather pattern is expected to continue, providing pleasant conditions throughout the weekend.

Dense Fog Advisory Issued

Residents in the Central Valley, particularly in the Delta and Sacramento Valley, should prepare for an increased risk of widespread dense fog developing tonight and carrying into tomorrow morning. Visibility may drop significantly, creating hazardous travel conditions. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for these areas until midday tomorrow, so caution is highly advised for anyone planning to travel.

Warming Trend Ahead

Looking forward, a gradual warming trend is on the horizon. Valley highs are expected to reach the mid to upper 60s tomorrow, trending toward the low 70s by Sunday. Light winds will prevail; however, there may be occasional breezy offshore conditions.

Potential Precipitation

As we approach Sunday and early Monday, a weak upper low is forecasted to approach the region. While general guidance suggests drier conditions, there’s still a possibility of very light precipitation affecting the Coast Range and parts of Shasta County. However, the likelihood of significant rainfall remains low.

Early Next Week Forecast

As we transition into early next week, conditions are expected to dry out again, with warmer weather returning. As ridging re-establishes itself across the interior, residents should also anticipate the return of morning fog.

Stay Prepared

For those residing in the Central Valley and surrounding areas, it’s important to stay informed about the weather conditions. Prepare for possible foggy conditions and ensure safe travel practices.
