Forecast: Rainy Weather Arrives in Southern California

Southern California is bracing for a new wave of rainy weather this week, with showers expected to impact the region starting Tuesday afternoon.

Rainfall Timeline

Forecasts indicate that rain will commence around 4 p.m. on Tuesday and persist into Wednesday. CBS News Los Angeles has issued a NEXT Weather Alert for both days, signaling residents to prepare for wet conditions.

Rainfall Expectations

While this storm is not anticipated to be as severe as previous ones, it may still cause minor disruptions. Most areas are expected to receive less than 0.5 inches of rain, which could result in damp roads and affect traffic, particularly on Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service (NWS) estimates that areas in higher terrain and regions north of Ventura County could see rainfall totals ranging from 1 to 2.5 inches. Furthermore, NWS forecasts another storm next week, which may bring additional precipitation.

Peak Rainfall Rates

Rain rates during this event will likely peak at 0.2 to 0.4 inches per hour, with isolated regions potentially receiving up to 0.5 to 0.7 inches per hour. Elevations above the ski resorts may see snowfall totals of around 3 to 6 inches, especially in higher regions.

Impact on Local Areas

Residents in Southern California should remain aware of the potential for slick roads, particularly during the Wednesday morning commute. While this event is not categorized as a significant storm, caution is advisable for travelers.

For more detailed forecasts and updates, check the National Weather Service website or CBS News Los Angeles.

Stay tuned for additional weather alerts as the situation develops, and don’t forget to prepare your homes and vehicles for a smooth transition into the rainy days ahead.
