The Business Boom in Santa Clarita Valley: A Bright Future Ahead

Discovering Santa Clarita Valley: A Business Paradise

Located just north of Los Angeles, Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) merges accessibility with quality of life, making it a cradle for business growth. With unparalleled freeway connectivity and a large, educated labor pool from nearby colleges and universities, SCV provides an attractive environment not just for businesses, but also for their employees. Families benefit from exemplary schools, outdoor activities, safe neighborhoods, and affordable housing options compared to other Los Angeles regions.

Key Industries Driving Economic Growth

Santa Clarita Valley’s economy thrives on several key sectors, notably advanced manufacturing, which includes aerospace and defense, bioscience, medical devices, and consumer products. Other important industries include corporate services, media, entertainment, and tourism.

Headquarters and major operations such as DrinkPAK, Sunkist, and Boston Scientific Neuromodulation call this region home, ensuring a diverse economic landscape that is primed for sustained growth. The focus on these high-value job sectors contributes to the region’s long-term resilience and stability.

Advantages for Businesses in Santa Clarita Valley

A Competitive Edge

Santa Clarita has earned a reputation as one of Los Angeles County’s most business-friendly locations. This is attributed to a favorable tax structure that minimizes operational costs—there is no local gross receipts tax and no utility user tax. When combined with modern infrastructure and available commercial space, this environment offers businesses a significant operational advantage.

Recent Developments Shaping the Business Climate

Santa Clarita Valley is undergoing a transformative phase with around 18 million square feet of commercial and industrial projects currently in the pipeline. By September, 5.8 million square feet had already been approved, while an additional 11.6 million square feet is awaiting approval. This development surge offers ample opportunities for businesses to expand or enter the Los Angeles market.

Recent significant approvals include the Valencia Commerce Center and the Entrada South project, which collectively add over 3.4 million square feet of commercial space. Additionally, the recently completed Santa Clarita Commerce Center introduced four new industrial buildings covering 430,407 square feet.

Future projects such as the Honor Ranch alongside the I-5 corridor aim to introduce 1.5 million square feet of non-residential space that includes an industrial park, life sciences offices, and retail options. Initiatives like the Princessa Crossroads, which plans for another 1.5 million square feet of business and commercial space, further demonstrate SCV’s commitment to a thriving local economy.

Success Stories: Company Relocations and Expansions

One highlighted success in the region is DrinkPAK, which has recently expanded by leasing its seventh facility in SCV. This new building adds 172,843 square feet to their operations, bringing their total footprint to over 1.1 million square feet across multiple sites. This growth exemplifies the local demand for advanced manufacturing and attests to SCV’s supportive business framework.

Looking Towards the Future

The strategic future of California’s business climate lies in regions that balance innovation with effective execution. The Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation (SCVEDC) plays a crucial role in this landscape, adopting a hands-on approach to help attract, retain, and expand businesses.

By collaborating with local partners and focusing on the evolving needs of employers, SCVEDC endeavors to transform California’s present advantages into tangible benefits for businesses operating in SCV.

Visit SCVEDC for more insights on business opportunities and resources in the region.
