Northern California Weather Forecast: A Warm and Dry Week Ahead

As we transition into early spring, Northern California is set to experience a dry and unseasonably warm week. The recent streak of breezy weather has given way to calm conditions, making this week an ideal time for outdoor activities and enjoying the great outdoors.

Early Spring Weather Pattern

With the jet stream shifting southward, residents can expect slightly cooler temperatures early in the week, but still, they will be warmer than the average high of 65°F. This week’s forecast will showcase sunny skies with mild conditions, perfect for enjoying the beautiful landscapes that Northern California offers.

Forecast Highs for the Week

An area of high pressure from the Eastern Pacific is anticipated to make its way onshore later this week. Temperatures are forecasted to soar into the upper 70s°F, flirting with daily record highs.

  • Monday: Expect valley highs around 73°F, with mild afternoon clouds.
  • Tuesday: Highs will range from the lower 70s°F in Sacramento to mid 70s°F in the San Joaquin Valley.
  • As the Week Progresses: By Wednesday, we might see highs in the upper 70s°F, inching closer to the 80s°F as the week culminates.

No Rain in the Forecast

Good news for those looking to enjoy the outdoors: no rain is expected in the coming days. Previous wet weather has helped ensure a decent water year, with regions like Sacramento currently registering 90% of normal rainfall. Meanwhile, Stockton and Modesto have exceeded 100% of their average.

Extended Dry Weather Outlook

March is forecasted to remain predominantly dry, with expectations of continuing this trend through at least mid-month. The Climate Prediction Center suggests that the latter half of March will likely remain warmer and drier than usual.

Regional Temperature Insights

Foothills & Sierra Forecast

Temperatures in the foothills are expected to elevate into the mid to upper 70s°F by next weekend. Those heading into the Sierra can anticipate highs in the mid 60s°F.

Valley Forecast

Valley temperatures are projected to exceed 10 degrees above the normal, making it a delightful week for residents and visitors alike. Whether in Sacramento or the Delta region, comfortable conditions will prevail.

Conclusion

This week promises to deliver beautiful early spring weather across Northern California, with ample sunshine and mild temperatures. Whether you’re planning a trip to the coast, the Sierra, or simply enjoying the valley, be prepared for a delightful warmth that characterizes the start of spring. Don’t forget to check local forecasts regularly for updates!
