California Avocado Season: West Pak Avocado Prepares for a Bountiful Year

MURRIETA, CA – The California avocado season has officially commenced, with peak promotional volumes expected from April through August. West Pak Avocado, a leading supplier in the industry, is excited about the opportunities this season holds and encourages retailers to take advantage of the anticipated strong yields.

Impressive Projections for 2026

According to the California Avocado Commission, the state’s 2026 harvest is forecasted to reach a remarkable 330 million pounds. This marks the third consecutive year that the crop is projected to exceed 300 million pounds, with breakdowns including 310 million pounds of Hass avocados and 20 million pounds of premium varieties such as GEM and Lamb Hass.

At the peak of the harvest, an estimated 10-15 million pounds per week will be available, ensuring a plentiful supply of quality California avocados. This abundance presents retailers with ample opportunities to plan promotions and boost category growth throughout the spring and summer.

Differentiation in Retail Spaces

Joe Nava, Vice President of Sales and Business Development at West Pak Avocado, emphasizes the importance of differentiating produce aisles during this peak season. Retailers are encouraged to highlight high-quality, locally grown fruit as the California months gain momentum, particularly leading into California Avocado Month in June.

“With our California-centric bags and the Farm-to-Table PLU program, we provide retailers with a roadmap for a successful season,” Nava explains.

Innovative Product Offerings

West Pak Avocado’s lineup for the spring-summer season includes a variety of products designed to maximize impact and ease of implementation for retailers. One standout offering is the California Gold bag, which features both conventional and organic varieties. This program is tailored to meet shopper demand for quality and consistency during key promotional periods.

Additionally, the California GEM Avocados bag provides a unique trade-up opportunity. These avocados are slightly larger than the popular Hass variety and offer a rich, creamy texture, combined with a delightful nuttiness. Their thick, dark green skin, adorned with gold flecks when ripe, enhances their appeal at the point of sale.

Engaging Consumers with Transparency

West Pak’s Farm-to-Table initiative strengthens consumer relations by showcasing the origin of the avocados. Custom PLUs underline the avocados’ California roots, creating a direct link between consumers and local growers. This transparency fosters a community of mindful consumers who prioritize freshness and quality in their food choices.

Maximizing Seasonal Impact

To optimize sales throughout the avocado season, West Pak encourages retailers to strategically align their merchandising and promotional activities ahead of peak availability. By doing so, particularly in conjunction with California Avocado Month in June, retailers can sustain strong category momentum.
