LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — A significant incident unfolded early Friday morning in Murrieta when 22-year-old Johney Pool, a resident of Laguna Niguel, was involved in a crash that resulted in widespread electrical outages.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., Pool was driving a white truck when he collided with an electrical transformer and sheared off a fire hydrant. This collision sent a dramatic spout of water soaring into the air, affecting both the sidewalk and roadway near Prestige Golf Carts and the SRCAR building.

According to Sgt. Matt Schmidt from the Murrieta Police, Johney Pool was arrested at the scene and suspected of driving under the influence (DUI). Following the incident, he was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. Once cleared, he was booked into the Southwest Detention Center.
Pool is scheduled to make a court appearance on May 15 to face charges stemming from the crash. The charges include various DUI-related offenses as well as property damage.
