Washington State Men’s Golf Team Competes at El Macero Classic
PULLMAN, Wash. (April 9, 2026) – The Washington State Cougars men’s golf team is set to take part in the El Macero Classic, hosted by UC Davis from April 10-12, 2026. This tournament marks the team’s final contest before the much-anticipated West Coast Conference Championships. The event will take place at the scenic El Macero Country Club in Davis, California.
The Course and Tournament Format
The El Macero Classic will span three days and consists of a total of 54 holes played on a par-72 course measuring 7,138 yards. Each day’s competition will feature 18 holes, with tee times commencing at 8 a.m.

Rankings and Recent Performance
Following strong performances in recent tournaments like the Desimone Invitational and The Goodwin, Washington State has elevated its position in collegiate golf rankings from 74th in early March to a season-high of 60th. Senior Sam Renner has also made significant strides, climbing from 221st to 103rd in individual rankings.
Last Tournament Recap
In their last outing at The Goodwin, the Cougars finished at 6-over, 846, tying for 10th place. Notably, WSU outperformed six teams ranked in the top 50 nationally. Sam Renner led the Cougars with an impressive three-round score of 5-under, 205, achieving his second consecutive Top-10 finish.

Under the guidance of Head Coach Dustin White, entering his 10th season, the Washington State golf team retains five key players from the previous season, including senior Sam Renner and redshirt-junior Ben Borgida. The team is bolstered by the addition of junior Ben Mulder and freshmen Dylan Boenning and Christian Flick.
