California American Water Invests in Safe Drinking Water for Antelope Community

Antelope, California — January 21, 2026 — In a significant move to enhance local water safety, California American Water has announced a $6 million investment in a new treatment plant specifically designed to remove hexavalent chromium (CrVI) from the water supply at the Fox Park Well. This initiative is crucial for meeting California’s updated drinking water standards, which limit CrVI levels to 10 micrograms per liter, equivalent to about 10 drops in an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Commitment to Community Health and Safety

“This investment reflects our commitment to the communities we serve,” said Charlie Wolfe, Principal Project Delivery Engineer for California American Water. The new treatment plant aims to bolster the existing water infrastructure and ensure residents of Antelope continue to receive safe, clean, and reliable drinking water that adheres to California’s stringent safety guidelines.

The Fox Park Well Treatment Project is a part of California American Water’s ongoing efforts to invest in reliable infrastructure. By employing cutting-edge filtration technology, the facility will effectively eliminate naturally occurring hexavalent chromium, reinforcing community health and trust.

Broader Water Quality Initiative

This project aligns with a broader initiative targeted at improving water quality across Northern California. California American Water is also upgrading treatment systems in various other facilities, including the Watt-Davidson, Dunnigan, and Parkway’s Stocker and Southgate treatment plants. This multifaceted approach underscores the company’s dedication to enhancing public health standards across their service areas.

Audie Foster, Director of Operations for California American Water’s Northern Division, emphasized the importance of these projects, stating, “Projects like this are about building trust and delivering long-term value to our customers while meeting or surpassing regulatory standards.”

Construction Timeline and Future Impact

Construction on the new treatment facility is currently underway and is expected to continue through 2027. Once complete, the facility will provide long-term reliability and peace of mind for Antelope residents, ensuring access to high-quality drinking water for years to come.
