California American Water Enhances Water Supply with New Groundwater Well

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Jan. 27, 2026 – California American Water is set to invest $4.7 million in a new groundwater well aimed at improving water resilience and reliability for its Suburban-Rosemont customers. This initiative underscores the company’s dedication to infrastructure enhancements that ensure the provision of safe, clean, and dependable water services.

Commitment to Infrastructure Improvements

Audie Foster, Operations Director of California American Water’s Northern Division, emphasized, “This project is an important step in helping ensure our customers and the communities we serve have access to high-quality water for years to come. By continually investing in California’s infrastructure today, we’re preparing for and addressing tomorrow’s needs.”

The Contempo Well Installation Project

The Contempo Well Installation Project is designed to establish a new groundwater production well that will meet the evolving water demands in the Suburban-Rosemont system. This new well will replace aging wells as they are retired from service, ensuring continual and reliable water supply. The project includes not only the construction of the well but also necessary upgrades and equipment installation to enhance overall system performance.

Charlie Wolfe, Principal Project Delivery Engineer for California American Water, stated, “Reliable water service is essential to the health and vitality of our communities. The Contempo Well Installation Project demonstrates our commitment to continuing proactive planning and long-term sustainability.”

Project Timeline and Impact

Construction is expected to conclude by 2027. Upon completion, the well will significantly increase water supply reliability for families and businesses in the Suburban-Rosemont area, thereby enhancing the community’s capacity to thrive.
