Moreno Valley Achieves Clean California Community Designation

January 14, 2026 — The City of Moreno Valley has proudly received the prestigious Clean California Community designation, recognizing its committed efforts toward cleanliness, sustainability, and community pride.

Commitment to Sustainability and Community Engagement

This accomplishment follows the city’s successful submission of comprehensive materials detailing how it meets, and even exceeds, the criteria set forth by the Clean California program. The submission emphasizes a diverse array of initiatives designed to enhance community engagement and promote environmental responsibility.

Programs and Initiatives

Moreno Valley’s notable efforts include:

  • Litter Abatement Activities: Ongoing campaigns aimed at reducing litter in public spaces.
  • Community Clean-Up Events: Organized gatherings where residents actively participate in cleaning various areas of the city.
  • Public Art Installations: Enhancing the beauty of the city through artistic contributions.
  • Right-of-Way Enhancements: Improving public spaces and infrastructure to create a cleaner environment for residents.

Vision for a Cleaner Future

“This designation is a clear reflection of our community’s pride in Moreno Valley and our commitment to keeping our city clean and beautiful,” stated Mayor Ulises Cabrera. He emphasized that this recognition showcases the collective dedication of city staff, community partners, volunteers, and residents in advancing quality-of-life initiatives.

A Statewide Recognition

Moreno Valley is among a select group of communities in California to achieve this honor, which not only offers statewide promotion but also includes personalized Clean California signage. Additionally, the city gains priority access to national grant opportunities through partners such as Keep America Beautiful and Keep California Beautiful.

Building on Existing Efforts

The Clean California initiative complements existing city programs such as Beautify MoVal, which encompasses Community Day of Service events and various Adopt a Trail/Road/Park initiatives. These programs encourage residents to engage actively in their community and promote environmental stewardship.
