Nevada County Celebrates California Arts, Culture & Creativity Month

Grass Valley, CA — The Nevada County Arts Council invites the community to join an exciting celebration to officially kick off California Arts, Culture & Creativity Month on March 27, 2026. Attendees can participate in a public toast to the arts at The Center for the Arts in downtown Grass Valley at 4:45 PM.

A Day of Community Engagement

The day of celebration will follow a comprehensive Arts & Culture Day, organized by the Nevada County Community Leadership Institute. This event will bring together over 30 emerging civic leaders to explore the important contributions of the arts to regional vitality and economic development. Participants will gain insight into the creative economy and cultural districts in Nevada County.

Joining the festivities will be Julie Baker, CEO of California for the Arts and California Arts Advocates, along with local arts leaders and community partners. The presence of representatives from the offices of state legislators Meghan Dahle and Heather Hadwick underscores the significance of this event.

April: A Month for Arts Advocacy

Throughout April, the Nevada County Arts Council will highlight numerous opportunities for residents to actively engage in arts advocacy, attend cultural events, and support the regional creative sector. This initiative comes at a crucial time, as public investment in the arts across California remains under discussion.

Baker emphasizes the importance of community involvement: “This year’s Arts, Culture & Creativity Month is vital for the arts in California. Our #50in50 campaign aims to secure an annual investment of $50 million for the California Arts Council, a necessary measure to rectify years of underfunding.”

Advocacy and Community Support

During this month-long celebration, the Nevada County Arts Council will share practical ways for residents to advocate for arts funding and policy initiatives. The Arts, Culture & Creativity Month is a statewide recognition of the vital roles that artists, cultural workers, nonprofit organizations, and creative businesses play in strengthening local and state economies.

In Nevada County, this celebration aligns with initiatives like the Culture Forward 2026-2032, a countywide arts and culture action plan designed to guide long-term investments and collaboration across various sectors.

Join the Celebration

Residents are encouraged to attend the March 27 toast and become a part of a month dedicated to advocacy, celebration, and creative engagement.
