Upcoming Storm to Impact Inland Empire Next Week

Overview of Weather Changes

RIVERSIDE, CA — The Inland Empire is bracing for its first significant storm of February, with forecasts indicating rain could arrive early next week. However, the National Weather Service (NWS) notes that exact rainfall amounts remain uncertain as the system approaches.

Storm Timeline and Conditions

A weather system set to move into the Pacific Northwest over the weekend will push southward into California on Monday and Tuesday, with effects lingering until Thursday. According to the NWS, a broad troughing pattern will establish itself over the West Coast, creating cooler temperatures and the likelihood of widespread precipitation.

Precipitation Expectations

The NWS anticipates a 30% chance that low pressure will lead to measurable rain on Tuesday, with expectations for wetter conditions extending into Wednesday and Thursday. While the agency predicts “mostly light rainfall amounts,” uncertainties still remain regarding precipitation timing and the potential for frozen precipitation at various elevations.

Local Weather Forecast

As the storm approaches, a brief cool-down is expected on Friday, before high pressure returns to the region. Daytime temperatures in the Riverside metropolitan area will reach the low 70s, dipping to the upper 40s overnight. The weekend is forecasted to be clear with highs in the low 80s and lows in the low 50s.

On Monday, a cooling trend will take hold, resulting in highs around the mid-60s and lows in the mid-40s.

Coachella Valley Conditions

In the Coachella Valley, Friday’s high temperatures will hit around 80°F, dropping to the mid-50s overnight. Over the weekend, the temperature range is expected to be between the low 80s during the day and upper 50s at night. By Monday, highs will drop to the mid-70s, with lows around the low 50s. The Temecula Valley will experience similar temperature trends as the Riverside area.

Conclusion

Residents of the Inland Empire should stay informed about the changing weather conditions as the significant storm approaches. Though details may still be uncertain, the potential for rainfall and cooler temperatures will affect daily life in the coming days. For ongoing updates on weather forecasts, refer to reliable sources like the National Weather Service.
